MARCIALONGA VIEW WITH A CHILD'S EYES

For a few years now, many lucky Marcialonga competitors have been finding a special surprise in their goodie bags: the drawings done by the schoolchildren of the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa. A gift for bringing luck made with the heart by those who live the Marcialonga as a real day of celebration. The children, coordinated by the teachers, participate enthusiastically in this initiative and in many others related to Marcialonga.

"As a child I often heard talking about Marcialonga. It all seemed to turn around it. I remember with joy and a bit of nostalgia the days before the event: so many, too many people at the bar, hustle and bustle, warmth, participation of the whole community. My grandfather and my dad were always around, night and day, to check if everything was ready. Skiing, waxing, a bit of concern but also lots of laughter, cooperation, singing nights and cheerfulness.

It was a real party.

I remember the flags hung on the balconies of the houses, the truck carrying the refreshment for the food station next to our house ... the fanfare, the military troop preparing the crispy bread and the hot tea, the fatigue on the face of the competitors but also their great satisfaction and pride.

What a story this Marcialonga ...it is an open book on which many pages will still be written in the future, I am sure there is "too much of everything" around it. We are proud, I am proud of this wonderful story that I also feel a little bit mine and that we hope to enrich with the help and collaboration of our children.

Marcialonga is culture, it's history, it's part of us and it is with our kids that everything begins. From their spontaneity come out the thoughts that touch us in so many ways: drawings, billboards, colourful flags, smiles and noisy questions but always interesting. Days spent on the snow, meetings with present and past champions, Minimarcialonga organised in the school halls, letters of wishes to competitors, trip to Cavalese race office to meet them…

The kindergarten and Primary Schools of the two valleys are enthusiastic about these projects, bringing us every year new ideas and new lymph.  

And even this is MARCIALONGA!
