A NEW CROSS-COUNTRY SKI ALLIANCE IS BORN FROM EUREGIO 

WHAT IS EUREGIO

European Union has among its goals the growth and the integration of Europe and its member states, to assure them peace and wealth. In 2011 to pursue these goals European Union istitued Euregio, a macroregion that includes Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino. It's a mountain area but varied both geographically, culturally and linguistically. Euregio works on a wide range of activities that more or less directly affect the lives of its citizens in the fields of communication, culture, education and youth, as well as research and development, economics, tourism and even mobility, health, environment and energy

MARCIALONGA, VAL CASIES, DOLOMITENLAUF

Cross-country ski is a sport that connects the three Euregio's territories: it's a sport that simbolises vitality and well-being, which takes place in unspoilt nature and there are three major events in the Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino that embody the Euregio spirit. We talk about historic races, DolomitenLauf in Tyrol, Marcialonga in Trentino and Gran Fondo Val Casies in South Tyrol.

Every year the three events involve 10.000 partecipants, in 2024 the races will be between january and february: on 19th January DolomitenLauf, on 27/28th January Marcialonga and on 17/18th February GF Val Casies. These races have a wide media coverage, also in TV, in all world, and they are both for big champions and amateurs, who are real driving force behind these events and the economy of the sport. But they are also characterised by their promotional value, which is the pivot of the activities of the Euregio territories. The common mission of three races is to promote tourist attendance and to increase the spin-off for their respective regions. They have a lot of volunteers who organise the races, pay great attention to the environment and are among the most popular nordic skiing events in Europe, promoting the sport especially among the younger generations. It was a natural consequence that the three organisastions share ideas, projects, experiences and go on together under the patronage of the Euregio.

IL PATROCINIO EUREGIO ED IL TROFEO EUREGIO UNDER23 

The first important project, which is common to all three races, was in Casa Moggioli, seat of Euregio in Trient, where it was announced the patronage of the Euregio for the edition 2024. There was also another news: Euregio Under23 Trophy, dedicated to young people of the three regions, who partecipate in races.

During the official awards cerimony, it will be given the prize TROFEO UNDER23 EUREGIO to the best classified in the UNDER23 category residing within the Euroregion.

The award cerimony of the 51st Marcialonga will be on Sunday 29th January at 4 p.m.
