The 51st Marcialonga edition starts with the Story
The enthusiasm of the young cross-country skiers of the ‘Baby’ is unstoppable
A fiery weekend with lots of side events is eagerly awaited
On Sunday the 7th event of the Ski Classics season

The most awaited weekend of the year among the cross-country enthusiasts has begun: today the Marcialonga dances opened with the unstoppable enthusiasm of Marcialonga Baby and the old-world charm of the Marcialonga Story.
The smiling children who were protagonists of the Marcialonga Baby are over a hundred and in the centre of Predazzo decorated like a party have worn their first skis on a ring course. All in line under the proud gaze of parents and grandparents accompanied by the Soreghina’s smile and the mascots Fondolo and Skiri. And if any child slips, they’re ready to get on their feet again with a laugh. A lap in the square to then leave the skis to their friends and take over since the children who wants to try cross-country skiing are many. A young passion that leaves hope for the future. The first skis and the first red bib, and at the end of the lap, even their first race pack and the first friendly wood medal for everyone. First prices of a long series, but the only thing that counts now is simply to have fun and approach cross-country skiing.
At 4:30 pm the start of the Marcialonga Story: a gathering of cross-country skiing enthusiasts, an historical re-enactment that has nothing to do with competitiveness, more like “skiing in company” while breathing the incredible atmosphere that only the ancient traditions can transmit. More than 300 the cross-country skiers who, wearing clothes before the 1976, launched themselves in a non-competitive from the Cross-Country stadium of Lago di Tesero until the centre of Predazzo. The legendary Maria Canins Bonaldi, to whom was dedicated the kilometre 9 of Marcialonga Story, led the group together with the champion Franco Nones, while the firsts at the finish line were Bruno Debertolis and Antonella Confortola.
The Story is a party for all the participants who were welcomed at the finish line by the large crowd and the couple President-Soreghina, formed by Angelo Corradini and Nathalie Zancanella.
Tomorrow another rich day: from the early afternoon, the appointments start at the Cross-Country stadium of Lago di Tesero with Marcialonga Stars, Mini and Young. Not-to-be-missed the bib and opening ceremony starting from 5 pm in the square in Cavalese, while the Palafiemme, always in Cavalese, will be open from 9 am for the bib pick-up.
